Dr ANTHONY MCCARTHY
FRCPsych, FRCPI, MSc Psychotherapy, DCH is recently retired from his post as Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist at the National Maternity Hospital, Holles St, after 28 years. He was previously a Consultant Psychiatrist at St Vincents University Hospital and Clinical Director for Dublin South East Mental Health Services. Prior to returning to Dublin, he was Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Director for Adult Mental Health at Guy’s Hospital London UK. He was a founding member and former President of the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland. He was also a member of the Registration Committee of the Medical Council of Ireland , and the Antidoping Committee of the Irish Sports Council. He did a psychoanalytic training and got his Masters in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from UCD in 1986. He also trained in Cognitive Analytic Therapy In London under the supervision of Dr Anthony Ryle.
